B105’s high-profile breakfast team has been severely reprimanded by station execs for a publicity stunt involving Justin Timberlake and the most powerful man in Australian music.

Labrat, Camilla and Stav, after discovering the alias Justin used to book his room at the Stamford Plaza, made an on-air call to the hotel claiming to be Sony BMG Australia and New Zealand ’s CEO and chairman and ARIA chairman Denis Handlin.

Hotel staff, after checking with the celebrity crooner, put the call through to Justin who answered with “Hello” and when told it was the B105 crew, immediately hung up.

“The way they treated Justin and threw my name about was appalling,” Denis, who grew up in Queensland, told Qconfidential. “Justin is an incredible artist and deserves much better than this.

“I expect the conduct will never be repeated with any other artist or record company head.”

Brisbane’s Austereo boss, Richard Barker, acknowledged his breakfast trio had overstepped the mark and the incident was totally regrettable.

Thanks jtimb blog for the audio
