Snippets from Rihanna’s dark and edgy new album “Rated R” have been released today followed immediately by a string of reviews from several media outlets.

The song that Justin wrote for Rihanna is called “Cold Case Love” and it’s said to be one of the best songs on the album.

Check below some reviews of the track:

But our favorite track is the sweeping, grandiose, almost ludicrously over-stuffed and endless album closer “Cold Case Love,” written with Justin Timberlake. A little bit Phil Collins, a little bit Lionel Richie, a lot bit Justin Timberlake’s “Losin My Way,” the song is epic, evocative, on-message (eat shit, Chris Brown) and just plain catchy. It’s like, CALL JUSTIN AND TELL HIM TO BRING THE PLATINUM-PLATED KITCHEN SINK. Yes! That’s exactly what you want from the most anticipated pop album on planet earth.

Justin Timberlake contributes again, this time writing the musically richer “Cold Case Love”, which includes violins, piano and more emphasis on Rihanna’s powerful vocal range.

This is the Justin contribution. He does his best Timbaland impersonation with a overly-produced and arranged wall of electronic sounds. She’s on a “dark and burning road”. She’s most angry here. This is the big FU CB tune. “What you did to me wasn’t right?” Now that’s an understatement. “We lost in love”. Quality lyrics but too damn long.

The album ends with the bonus track, “The Last Song,” but not before the outstanding closer “Cold Case Love,” with its escalating production infused with a simple piano pattern, thumping bassline, violin strings and ultimately, electric guitar licks.

That’s enough reading, a full version of the song has leaked online. Listen to it below, and judge by yourself:

This song is art for the ears. It’s really a fantastic piece of music, loving all the violins and background music.

Np there Maxie. Thanks for the links, Hopefully he reveals the date soon.

I’m really fascinated by this song. Love all the arrangements they did to it. It’s reminiscent to me of songs from Justin like “Bigger than the world” (specially the ending) and “I think that she knows” that also had a very rich production musically.

And the lyrics are deep, I see Rihanna is really pouring her emotions towards Chris Brown in this album.

It’s strange and at the same time interesting cause I happen to prefer these type of mid-tempo songs over the club bangers. There’s something unique about them that makes them special.

I agree with you. I read somewhere that Rihanna said if you wanted to know what she was feeling about what happened listen to her new album. I just saw somewhere, but can’t seem to find it now, that she asked the writers and producers to make it more dark, moody, and vibey cause that was how she was feeling. I like club bangers but they can all start to sound alike to me after awhile. This is much richer and meaningful. Love it.

Lisa, you need to decompress the file using winrar or winrar.
Links to d/l the programs:
http://www.winzip.com/es/prod_down.htm
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (if you are using windows look for the first 2 links if ur gonna get winrar)

After that you are ready to decompress. I will explain the process with winrar since that’s the one I use

Click on the .rar file with the right button of the mouse then select “Extract here” and you are ready to go.

It shouldn’t be hard to do it but if you face any complications, here is a link to d/l directly in mp3:

This song is amazing. I can relate on a personal level. Justin is a amazing musician, producer, etc. It gave me chills. You find yourself closing your eyes and letting go.

it does have a touch of ‘losing my way’. and i agree im more favor to the ballads. i love dance songs but sometimes i lean more towards slow, especially lately. i love the beat & style. kinda wish justin was ON the track itself but i still like it

I agree nic. It would’ve been great if he had a part on the track even if it was just in background vocals. But for me the song is still perfect the way it is.
