After getting rave reviews and solid ratings for his hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live” in May, the singer and actor had another reason to celebrate on Sunday when his sponsored race car won the Indianapolis 500.
The singer’s clothing line William Rast, which he started with longtime friend Tracy Ayala in 2006, sponsored driver Dan Wheldon. Wheldon outpaced 32 other cars to the finish line to take home the top prize on Sunday. This was the second win for Wheldon, 32, who last won the Indy 500 in 2005.
“What a Memorial Day weekend! The William Rast car just won the Indy 500,” Timberlake Tweeted on Sunday. He later added, “Congrats to Dan Wheldon, the WR racing team and everyone else who put in the hard work for this victory! Unreal!”
Last week, the singer scored major ratings for his return to the “Saturday Night Live stage” with musical guest Lady Gaga. According to the network, the episode was the highest rated season finale since 2004, when the Olsen twins hosted.

The Do Something Awards will be taped at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and premiere Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at 9/8c on VH1. Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jane Lynch will return to host the star-studded Do Something Awards telecast for a second year.
Additional announcements regarding celebrity attendees and contest finalists will be forthcoming. Taping on August 14th, 2011, this year’s VH1 Do Something Awards are executive produced by Michael Dempsey and Lee Rolontz for VH1. Nancy Lublin and Naomi Hirabayashi oversee the awards show for DoSomething.org.

Warner Bros. is heading back to Jellystone Park, moving ahead on development of “Yogi Bear” sequel.
Studio’s signed the writing team of Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia to script the project, which will again be produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt with Andrew Haas exec producing. Jon Berg’s overseeing for Warners.
Sternin and Ventimilia teamed on the script for Fox’s “Rio” and for DreamWorks’ “Peabody and Sherman.”
The live-action/CG animated “Yogi Bear” turned out to be a better performer than initially expected, opening modestly in mid-December with $16.4 million domestically before showing long legs and topping $100 million in U.S. grosses. Pic grossed another $100 million internationally.
Dan Aykroyd voiced the title character and Justin Timberlake was his sidekick Boo-Boo with Anna Faris, Tom Cavanaugh, Andrew Daly and T.J. Miller starring in the live-action roles. Eric Brevig directed; Sternin, Ventimilia and Brad Copeland received screenplay credit.Yogi’s character, inspired by Art Carney’s portrayal of Ed Norton on “The Honeymooners,” first appeared in Hanna-Barbera cartoons in 1958 and was voiced by Daws Butler.
