Quentin Tarantino will head the competition jury for this year’s Venice Film Festival, which will run from September 1st to the 11th. The rumored films that are expected to compete in the festival include Machete by Robert Rodriguez, The Social Network by David Fincher, John Carpenter’s The Ward, Black Swan Darren Aronofsky, Route Irish by Ken Loach.
Even though it’s still a rumor, this proves how highly anticipated the movie is. The venice film festival is one of the biggest festivals in the world .

Is it me or Justin looks kinda like a rockstar here ?
We usually like to put our Fire Starter out a little later in the week, but this is a special edition. We have Justin Timberlake giving a major co-sign to a new mixtape. You’ve seen JT present artists from his burgeoning Tennman Records, such as Esmee Denters and Matt Morris. Next up under the Grammy winner’s wing are FreeSol, a group from his hometown of Memphis that fuses rock, hip-hop and a little R&B.
“They’re rock stars,” Justin said of the group at February’s William Rast fashion show in New York, where they also performed. “It’s nice to work them organically and not feel like, ‘Hey, you gotta listen to this band!’ I’m trying to find cool ways to implement them into the culture of what it is we already do.”
“It’s like a school, it’s like a classroom,” frontman Free said earlier this year of working with Timberlake. “He’s a genius. A lot of people think he’s [just] that dude from ‘NSYNC, but really, he’s a baby Quincy [Jones]. We learn a lot.”
Along with Free, the group consists of Premo D’Anger on keys and bass, “Kickman” Teddy on the drums and guitarist Elliott Ives. The collective has already recorded more than 100 songs for their debut album — some of them with Timberlake — and they just dropped their mixtape, RockNRolla, with DJ Benzi.
“The mixtape was an idea to paint a picture of what we’re trying to do,” Free said. “A lot of people, whenever they describe us, they say ‘rock/rap.’ So immediately you may think of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Linkin Park, something you’ve heard before. I think that what we do is something extremely different, original. I think the mixtape was an idea to kind of create the picture of what we’re trying to do. We took a lot of older [songs], whether it be AC/DC or Smashing Pumpkins, and make them our own. Live bands, live musicians. We approached the mixtape concept through the eyes of a band.”
“I got a call from Free saying, ‘Let’s do this mixtape,’ ” Ives recalled. ” ‘Can you take some samples of some rock stuff that you’re a fan of and dice them up? Make some beats and let’s make some songs. We’re gonna call it RockNRolla.’ ”
Teddy said the most liberating thing about the project is that the group worked on its own. “Having a free will of our own to do it, without working with any producers,” he described. “Not having somebody be like, ‘Do it this way’ or ‘Do it that way.’ Taking everything we’ve learned up to this point and say, ‘Look at us and what we have to offer. We can do this on our own,’ and put it out there and be like, ‘What you think about it?’ ”
With talent like FreeSol on his roster, Timberlake hasn’t been rushing back into the solo spotlight, instead overseeing the production of his acts’ debut albums.
“Right now, I’m enjoying working with new artists,” Timberlake told MTV News earlier this year.
Columbia Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for director David Fincher’s adaptation of The Social Network. The teaser doesn’t really reveal much, and mostly consists of sound bites over on screen text. Watch it below:
Memphis hip-hop group FreeSol, which is signed to Justin Timberlake’s label Tennman Records” has hooked up with DJBooth.net to drop RockNRolla, a street album on which the live-band ensemble puts their spin on a variety of rock classics.
Hosted and presented by DJ Benzi, the 17-track project finds rapper Free, keyboardist Premo D’anger, drummer Kickman Teddy and vocalist/guitarist Elliot flipping memorable tracks by Smashing Pumpkins (“RockNRolla”), The Doors (“Before You Slip”), and many more.
Throughout RockNRolla, FreeSol are joined by such heavyweight collaborators as Three 6 Mafia, 8Ball, Kyle Lucas and Adam Tensta. Guest production comes courtesy of Multiman [for MMG] and Tabu [for SMG].

My man Nick from C3 hit me up last November to tell me about a new group he was repping called FreeSol that had just gotten signed to the roster of Justin Timberlake’s new label, Tennman/Interscope. They were putting together their mixtape and wanted me to jump on for a feature, and once I heard their music I was down for the move.
What resulted was “What’s Going On”, a dope ode to current events, very similar to what Marvin was talking about back in the day. Over Memorial Day weekend, Viva International Group and their newest brand, WilliamRast participated in “the greatest spectale in racing” with their extended sponsorship of the William Rast Racing/Bryan Herta Autosport Team. Vision Monday was on the scene for the entire weekend with exclusive coverage live from the event.
During the 94th running of the Indy 500, Viva’s sponsorship included the William Rast Eyewear logo emblazoned across the nose of the William Rast car #29 along with the pit crew wearing the first ever limited edition William Rast Racing Eyewear sunglasses. The then 19-years old rookie, and rising Colombian racing star, Sebatian Saavedra (who turned 20 on June 2) drove the #29 William Rast car on race day and proclaimed himslef a huge fan of Viva’s William Rast Racinf styles.
“Sebastian was the guy we wanted to build this program around” Here’s a young, cool, edgy guy and we needed a brand that could capitalize on this, a brand that is going to give us legitimacy and that other companies and brands are going to want to be associated with” said Bryan Herta, co-owner of Bryan Herta Autosport.
“When we found out that Viva wanted to launch the eyewear here it was just so perfecr”. We’re launching the IndyCar team, we’re launching Sebastian’s IndyCar career and its the biggest motor race in the world”. William Rast, the “Ne America” denim culture founded by Trace Ayala and Justin Timberlake , will debut their full collection of sunwear with Viva in January 2011, with eyewear to follow in March 2011.
