Justin Timberlake’s family negotiated a deal for Big Creek Golf Course near Millington just before the property was auctioned Thursday.

A representative of the entertainer’s family confirmed the purchase Thursday afternoon and said they plan to keep it as an upscale public course.

“We intend to make some investments there and have it continue to be one of the top golf courses in the Memphis area,” said the family spokesman. “We’re excited about the plans. There will be more to come on it.”

Big Creek is southwest of Millington off Woodstock Cuba Road near U.S. 51.

Lanier Hurdle, owner of both courses, would not comment on the Big Creek sale price except to say that it was “in excess” of the $750,000 minimum bid for his course.

“It was an offer we felt like we could take,” Hurdle said.

Timberlake is an avid golfer and plays to a 6-handicap. Earlier this month, the PGA Tour announced that the four-time Grammy winner and actor would host the Tour’s stop in Las Vegas next year.

“I am really excited that we have the chance to develop these strong collections together and that my vision for a complete William Rast lifestyle brand is in the hands of two of my most favorite designers.” Justin says.

Although William Rast currently produces women’s jeans, it is primarily known for its strong menswear lines. The Lindebergs, under their design label Paris68, will serve as creative directors for the new sportswear category, which comprises both men’s and womenswear and is due to make its debut for autumn/winter 2008-9.

While young Brooklyn Beckham is happy kicking a football around in his father’s shadow, David Beckham says he hopes his second son, Romeo, will be our next Justin Timberlake.

Talking on This Morning programme, the 32-year-old says his five-year-old will most likely follow his mother, Spice Girl Posh, into the world of pop.

‘Romeo is the performer in our family, he is going to be the next Justin Timberlake, hopefully‘ said the star, speaking at his London football academy.
